Winter Ode to Bourne Farm

Still a beautiful and evocative place, maybe more so without people. Check it out!

Winter Ode to Chappy

The first Sat in January was a perfect day to walk the length of Chappy and Black Beach, all the way to channel at the marsh. The tide was out, the only way this walk can take place; the wind was down, and the temps were up. And the dogs had to be the happiest creatures on earth. They ran, they leaped, they played. Almost made me want to get a dog! Here’s some of what I saw:

Winter Ode to Menauhant

A Christmas Day walk on Menauhant last month revealed interesting vignettes of the old bridge, and the western side of the beach. The late afternoon sun was golden, perfect for the holiday. Take a look!

T3C New Year’s Walk

Wonderful walk today sponsored by The 300 Committee and superbly led by Alex Lancaster and Marcy Klattenberg, through hidden paths and woods of Sea Farms in Davisville, along the inlets of Bournes Pond, Black Duck Cove and Israel’s Cove. Probably 85 people were there, and the weather couldn’t have been better. A perfect way to start the new year!

A Special Anniversary

Twenty-five years ago today my friends Larisa and Yuri, with their 5 year old son and Yuri’s parents, arrived in this country from Russia. They had nothing but intelligence, advanced degrees that were useless, and a determination to make a life in this country. A few months ago I was privileged to help them buy a beach house here, truly a dream come true for them. Congratulations to this beautiful couple who left the only place they’d ever known, to start over here. Bless you, and I’m thrilled to have been a small part of your journey. Onward, in strength and grace!
