Happy Winter Solstice!

In this season of exploding coronavirus illness, I didn’t want to post the
usual note of holiday cheer – although I did want to post some note of
good cheer. The winter solstice seems like just the right event to observe
and celebrate. This is the shortest day of the year, and the day with the
least amount of daylight.

But tomorrow – tomorrow! The days start getting longer, and with that,
more daylight, both literally and figuratively. The vaccine is here, and
some people have already taken it. I hope I’m at the front of the line for
my cohort, can hardly wait for my turn. I won’t mind masking for as long
as necessary, as long as I know that I won’t come down with this dreadful
illness (which my cousin and a friend succumbed to), nor will I infect
others. We will be able to start seeing each other again, especially our
precious loved ones who live outside our pod.

Brighter days ahead!
